Keep the diaper area clean and dry: Wash the area gently with mild soap or wash, wipes and pat dry before putting on new diaper.
Use gentle baby wipes: Use a mild and gentle wipe that has glycerin, aloe Vera and no alcohol. While wiping, avoid rubbing the skin.
Diaper free time: When babies have diaper rash give them diaper free time. If possible, giving diaper free time daily will be very helpful, it can be 5-10 minutes.
Wiping the area with a warm cloth: You can wipe the area with warm cloth when changing diaper.
Changing diaper frequently: Change the diaper for babies at least every 4 hours and whenever you come to know there is poop as the acid causes the rash.
Using cloth diapers: You can also switch to cloth diapers during day time till the rash heals. Cloth diapers once wet you will need to change. You will need to do the extra work of washing those diapers.
Applying diaper rash cream: Apply a thick layer of diaper rash cream on the affected area.
Coconut oil: Apply little coconut oil and massage over the area. It forms a protective layer between the diaper and the skin to prevent irritation and reduces itching.
Diaper Rash usually goes away in few days. But in case the rash is not improving and you see the area is infected then consult pediatrician.
